Join in AOGS2023 as Sub-Convener & Presenter
Asia Oceania Geosciences Society (AOGS) 2023 will be held in Singapore from July 30th to August 4th, 2023 (SST).
Dr. Terao will serve as a sub-convener of the session “The Third Pole Environment and High Mountains of Central Asia – Hydrometeorological Processes and Human Dimension” on August 1st.
It is important for AsiaPEX, Asian hydroclimate research project, to collaborate with TPE (Third Pole Environment), project focused on Tibet Plateau. Tibet Plateau is said to have a great impact on global climate because its height exceeds 5,000m. This region is also interesting for its unique climatic conditions. It plays an important role in the Asian monsoon climate including Japanese rainy season and in the whole Asian climate for its impact on the people’s lives by glacier recharge or global warming.
Dr. Terao will join in this meeting as a session chair and representative of AsiaPEX.
He will do the following presentation in the same session:
“Collaborative Observational and Modeling Initiative Toward Understanding of Asian Hydroclimatological System”
(Toru Terao, Shinjiro Kanae, Jun Matsumoto and Hatsuki Fujinami)
He will talk on the research strategy of AsiaPEX keeping the collaboration with TPE in mind.
Especially, he will start an Asian international co-observation project, with the provisional name “AMY-II” from 2025 to 2028.
